Job description

This is a role for an industrious & committed Year 5 Teaching Assistant to join an outstanding primary school in Stretford, Trafford, starting ASAP in February 2025.

This full-time position involves supporting a pupil in Year 5 with Autism, as well as supporting the wider group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with Autism who is academically achieving well however there are sensory, emotional & behavioural needs that require additional support.
  • Support your colleagues in the group and wider school.
  • Aid the implementation of of educational activities and lessons.
  • Contribute to a safe, positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience working as a Primary Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Behaviour Support Assistant, Learning Mentor or Learning Support Assistant would be ideal.
  • Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills are essential.
  • You will need to look out for triggers and implement prevention and de-escalation strategies in order to allow the young person to engage effectively in lessons.
  • An adaptable, flexible and proactive approach is required.
  • You must bring a positive attitude & a genuine desire to support this pupil and the rest of the class in their academic, social, emotional and physical development.

Requirements

  • CV with full history from education to present.
  • Right to Work & Proof of Address in the UK.
  • DBS certificate on the Update Service (or be happy to apply for a new one).
  • Min. of 2 professional references.
  • Overseas Police Check if applicable.
  • Some experience supporting in children in Early Years or Primary.
