English Tutor


Now Education are delighted to be working with a pupil referral unit in Salford who require an English Tutor to work on a long term and full time basis.

The role will continue until the end of the academic year in July and there is the possibility of a permanent role for the right candidate.  Staff at the school are committed to providing an outstanding education to their diverse student body, they prioritise academic excellence, creativity, and the holistic development of each student.

The pupil referral unit caters to Key Stage 4 students for whom mainstream education does not meet their needs.

Many of the students who attend this setting have an Education Health Care Plan and have a range of SEND such as SEMH, Autism, ADHD or Dyslexia.

Experience in working with young people who may be disengaged and disaffected in a must, as is a sense of humour, a caring and compassionate nature and a thick skin.  The role is challenging yet rewarding and offers the chance to make a real difference to the lives of the young people that you will be working with.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging and challenging English lessons that align with the national curriculum, including GCSE level.
  • Creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters student engagement and achievement.
  • Assessing and providing constructive feedback on student work to support their academic progress.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to contribute to the development and improvement of the English curriculum.
  • Participating in school events such as parent evenings and any CPD opportunities.

Qualifications: To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
  • Proven experience teaching English at the secondary school level for the UK national curriculum.
  • Strong knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
