Year 1 Teaching Assistant
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only (Mondays to Fridays)
A mainstream primary school located in the North Liverpool area (Aintree L9), is currently looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 classroom
The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher to provide high-quality support for pupils—both individually and in small groups—ensuring they are fully engaged and making progress in a positive and structured learning environment.
This full-time position runs throughout the academic year and is term-time only. A potential permanent contract could also be available for the right candidate.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting children’s learning activities as directed by the class teacher
- Assisting with the setup of learning materials and classroom tasks
- Delivering targeted support to individuals and small groups, especially in phonics, early reading, and basic maths
- Encouraging positive behaviour and creating a supportive, nurturing environment for pupils
- Contributing to the upkeep of a safe, engaging, and well-organised classroom space
We’re especially keen to hear from candidates who:
- Have previous experience in a Key Stage 1 or infant classroom setting
- Possess a solid understanding of the Year 1 curriculum
- Demonstrate a calm, patient, and supportive approach to working with young learners
- Communicate effectively and enjoy being an active part of a collaborative school team
