Job Details:

  • ⭐Setting: Alternative Provision
  • 🗓️ Contract: Full-time (temp to perm)
  • ⏰Hours: 08:30am – 16:00pm, Monday to Friday (Term-time only)
  • 💷 Pay: Competitive day rate, paid by PAYE by Now Education
  • 🗓️ Start Date: As soon as possible

We are seeking a resilient and experienced Primary Teaching Assistants to join our Alternative Provision team in Chesterfield. This is a varied and hands-on role supporting pupils with complex social, emotional, and behavioural needs, both on-site and in the wider community.

You will work with pupils on a 1:1 basis, in small groups, and in off-site settings such as pupils’ homes, libraries, or cafés. Your support will be key to helping them re-engage with education in a safe, nurturing, and adaptable learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support in school and in the community
  • Deliver learning and behaviour strategies 1:1 and in small groups
  • Help pupils regulate emotions and develop positive relationships
  • Build strong working relationships with staff, families, and external agencies

Essential Requirements:

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant qualification.
  • Experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour
  • Very high resilience, patience, and adaptability
  • Ability to work independently and think on your feet
  • You must have a full UK driving licence, access to a vehicle, and business insurance
  • Strong behaviour management, communication, patience and resilience.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for supporting young learners with Special Educational Needs.
