Join us as a SEND Teaching Assistant at a special needs high school in Tameside, dedicated to students aged 11–16 with Autism and complex needs. This role offers a chance to be part of a supportive team, helping students thrive both academically and personally.


Role:

SEND Teaching Assistant at an inclusive special needs high school in Tameside.

  • Start date: ASAP
  • Contract: Long-term, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
  • Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:50 am–3:20 pm.
  • Pay: £90–100/day (DOE) – paid directly through Now Education (no umbrella companies!).

What You’ll Do:

  • Work one-on-one and in small groups with students aged 11–16, supporting their unique learning journeys.
  • Assist in creating and delivering personalized learning plans tailored to each student’s needs.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom vibe, encouraging student participation and confidence.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure holistic support for each student.
  • Help students develop social skills, emotional resilience, and coping strategies.
  • Provide personal care and assist with moving & handling as needed to support students’ well-being.
  • Encourage independence and self-advocacy, preparing students for life beyond school.

What We Need from You:

  • A detailed CV outlining your education and work history.
  • Proof of Right to Work & Address in the UK.
  • A valid DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
  • At least 2 professional references.
  • Experience working with children or young people with Autism or complex needs is a plus.
  • A compassionate, proactive approach with a commitment to supporting student well-being and development.
