Are you an Teaching Assistant or recent graduate with a passion for working with children with SEN?

NOW Education are currently recruiting for a caring and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in year 9 with Social and Emotional needs (SEMH)

 

The School:

The school is a large outstanding secondary academy based in Hackney with an inspiring award-winning building and state of the art facilities & resources. Since opening in 2009 the academy has received 2 ‘Outstanding’ grades, stating:

” The outstanding quality of leadership and management and the strength of the shared vision for the academy have been instrumental in its success.”

The school has excellent transport links and there is parking on a first come first serve basis. The roles is to start ASAP until the end of the academic year with the view to permanent for the right candidate. Salary is £ 22,206 – 24.709 pa pro-rata depending on experience. 35 hours per week with a 08:30am start.

The Role:

What are we looking for in a SEN Teaching Assistant to support SEMH?

We are looking for an individual with excellent communication skills that has experience supporting individuals with SEN, ideally in a secondary setting. The pupil in question is based in year 7 and is from a vulnerable background so can be quite withdrawn. You will need to build a rapport and act as a mentor figure to this pupil, building their trust and keeping them engaged. You will also be required to work with the Teacher to create a EHCP (Education Health Care Plan) and liaise with the parents and SLT to ensure targets for the pupil are hit.

To join us and be successful in this SEN Teaching Assistant role you will need to provide the following:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN
  • Degree or equivalent qualification
  • This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
  • Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible and any employment breaks must be explained
  • You must have the legal right to work in the UK
