Job description
Are you an experienced Primary Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Nursery Nurse or Nursery Assistant looking to work in an outstanding school?
If so, then this Reception Class Teaching Assistant role is for you!
You will be joining an outstanding rated primary school in the Eccles area of Salford, starting ASAP in February 2025.
This full-time position involves supporting a pupil with additional needs in their Reception Class as well as supporting the wider group as & when required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with an EHCP for Social & Emotional needs, assisting with their academic, social, and emotional development.
- Build a strong relationship with the pupil quickly based on honesty, transparency, respect and setting clear and consistent boundaries.
- Use de-escalation and prevention strategies to manage any challenging behaviours in order to increase their engagement in lessons and reduce the impact of any situations on the wider class.
- Support the classroom teacher with general teaching duties and classroom management.
- Assist with the preparation and delivery of educational resources and activities.
- Help create a safe, positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience working as a Primary Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Support Assistant, SEMH Teaching Assistant, Nursery Assistant or Nursery Nurse.
- Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills are essential.
- You will need to be diligent and consistent in your approach while not taking things personally.
- You will need resilience and the willingness to persevere over time.
- A proactive, flexible approach to assisting in the classroom and 1:1 support.
- A positive attitude, with a genuine desire to support children in their educational journey.

Requirements
- CV with full history from education to present.
- Right to Work & Proof of Address in the UK.
- DBS certificate on the Update Service (or be happy to apply for a new one).
- Min. of 2 professional references.
- Overseas Police Check if applicable.
- Some experience supporting in children in Early Years or Primary.
