This is an exciting opportunity for a SEND Teaching Assistant, starting ASAP on a full-time, long-term basis at a respected special needs primary school in Rochdale. The school is well-known for its inclusive ethos and supportive environment, easily accessible by car and public transport.
Role:
SEND Teaching Assistant at an inclusive and welcoming special needs primary school in Rochdale.
- Start date: ASAP
- Contract: Long-term, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
- Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am–3:30 pm.
- Pay: £90-95/day (DOE) – paid PAYE directly through Now Education (no umbrella companies!).
Responsibilities:
- Supporting a range of pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 with complex needs, including physical, learning, sensory, emotional, and behavioural needs.
- Identifying and addressing triggers, employing preventative strategies, and using de-escalation techniques to manage behaviours effectively.
- Providing personalized support during lessons by simplifying tasks and instructions to make them accessible and achievable for pupils.
- Delivering encouragement, praise, and positive reinforcement to build confidence and engagement in learning.
- Collaborating closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure tailored support is provided.
- Undertaking Personal Care and Moving & Handling tasks as required to meet the needs of pupils.
- Fostering a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive.

Requirements:
- CV detailing your full education and employment history.
- Right to Work & Proof of Address in the UK.
- A valid DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for a new one).
- Minimum of 2 professional references.
- Relevant experience supporting children with complex needs across a range of settings.
