Now Education is working alongside a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Halifax to help them source a new Behaviour Mentor for their team. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who thrive in challenging environments and are committed to supporting children and young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) issues or challenging behaviour who have been excluded or are at the risk of exclusion from mainstream education.
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a vital role in helping students overcome barriers to education, encouraging positive behaviour, and building strong, trusting relationships. Working closely with teaching staff and other professionals, you’ll provide 1:1 and small group support to help students achieve their full potential.

- 🗓️ Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday (temp to perm)

Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting students who may display challenging behaviours, both in and out of the classroom.
- Assisting with behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
- Encouraging and promoting positive social, emotional, and academic outcomes.
- Providing tailored interventions to meet individual needs.
- Acting as a role model, fostering resilience and self-confidence in students.
Candidate Requirements:
- Previous experience working with young people in a similar role, such as youth work, SEN support, or behaviour management.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport quickly.
- A calm, empathetic, and resilient approach to managing challenging behaviours.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
- Knowledge of strategies to support social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
- Experience within a Pupil Referral Unit or alternative education setting.
- Team Teach or other behaviour management training (or willingness to complete training).
- Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or counselling are an advantage.
