The role is Monday – Friday working 7.4 hours per day at £34 per hour.

The Senior Leadership team are looking for an enthusiastic Automotive Lecturer to join them at Manchester College.

The ideal candidate will have both technical expertise in automotive engineering and a passion for teaching.

You will play a key role in delivering our automotive courses, providing a blend of practical and theoretical instruction to students aspiring to build careers in the automotive industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach a range of automotive engineering subjects, including diagnostics, vehicle maintenance, and repair techniques.
  • Deliver practical, hands-on workshops in our fully equipped automotive training facilities.
  • Guide students through key industry topics, including engine systems, electric vehicles, and advanced vehicle technology.
  • Prepare engaging and informative lesson plans that cater to different learning styles and levels.
  • Provide continuous assessment and constructive feedback on student progress.
  • Ensure that all courses are aligned with current industry standards and emerging technologies.
  • Maintain workshop safety and ensure students adhere to best practices in the automotive field.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support curriculum development and enhance the learning experience.

Essential Criteria:

  • A qualification in Automotive Engineering or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in the automotive industry, ideally with hands-on experience in vehicle diagnostics, maintenance, and repair.
  • Strong communication skills and a passion for sharing industry knowledge.
  • Ability to engage, motivate, and inspire students to reach their full potential.
  • Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.

Desirable:

  • Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE) or willingness to work towards one.
  • Experience teaching in a further education or training setting.
  • Knowledge of electric and hybrid vehicle technologies and other emerging trends in the automotive sector.
  • Industry certifications (e.g., IMI, City & Guilds) are an advantage.
