We are seeking a dedicated and highly organised Attendance Officer to join our Alternative Provision team in Chesterfield.
This vital role involves working closely with pupils, families, and staff to promote and improve school attendance, ensuring that every child receives the support they need to engage with education. You will monitor attendance data, follow up on absences, conduct home visits, and work with external agencies to remove barriers to regular attendance.

- ⏰Hours: 08:00am – 16:00pm, Monday to Friday (Term time only)
- 💷 Pay: Competitive day rate, paid by PAYE by Now Education
- 🗓️ Start Date: As soon as possible
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor daily attendance and punctuality records
- Contact parents/carers regarding absences and follow up in line with the school’s policies and procedures
- Conduct home visits and meetings in the community to support re-engagement
- Liaise with staff, families, and external agencies to address attendance concerns
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to safeguarding procedures
Essential Requirements:
- Experience working in an education or pastoral support role
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- You must have a full UK driving licence, access to a vehicle, and business insurance, as regular off-site visits are an essential part of the role
