Now Education have a fantastic and rare opportunity for an Outdoor Education provision in Mansfield as an Adventure Group Tutor. As the Adventure Group Tutor, your primary role is to support and maintain a high level of learner engagement through collaborative preparation and delivery of an innovative, creative and flexible Outdoor Education curriculum.

You must be someone who has a passion for supporting children and young people to challenge themselves beyond the classroom and embrace the outdoors taking part in activities such as rock climbing, kayaking, caving and hiking.

The successful candidate must have experience of leading groups of children and young people in the mentioned activities, understands working with people who have SEN and/or challenging behaviour and are confident in managing riskier activities.

Due to the nature of the activities you will travel to and from appropriate locations as per the scheme of work. Therefore, anyone applying must be able to transport Learners via the organisations minibus or be willing to use their own vehicle.

This is a full-time permanent position, operating Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4pm term time only.

Requirements:

  • Hold a minimum of two National Governing Body Awards.
  • Hold additional Outdoor specific qualifications (e.g. climbing, Level 1 Kayak etc).
  • Experience and awareness of working in the Outdoor environment.
  • Experience of working with children and young people or vulnerable students within an education, health or social care setting.
  • Be able to produce evidence of previous CPD sessions (e.g. first aid, safeguarding training, diversity training, CAF/EHC training, IOSHH).
  • Must hold a UK Driving Licence and have access to a road worthy vehicle.
  • Be committed to delivering holistic family interventions.
  • Be driven to provide positive outcomes to children, young people and vulnerable adults.
  • Demonstrate recognised skills in working with young people or vulnerable adults with additional needs.

Responsibilities:

  • To support and maintain a high level of learner engagement through collaborative preparation and delivery of the qualification.
  • To use a collaborative and multi-agency holistic approach to delivering an education curriculum which includes attention to health and safety awareness, risk management and the safeguarding of young people.
  • Advocate on behalf of the young people and their families in your care.
  • Encourage young people’s involvement in the decision making and management of their programmes.
  • Assist with the assessment, preparation, delivery and review of a learner’s curriculum including contributions to schemes of work and lesson plans.
  • Offer a variety of approaches and opportunities to focus on an engagement with learning.
  • To support the Outdoor Education Provision Manager in the collection and collation of pupil information including learner profiles, pen pictures, risk management procedures and special educational needs and suitably differentiate your delivery to meet the identified needs.
  • To support the Provision Manager in the completion of all assessments, pupil tracking documents, progress reports and feedback reports to commissioning bodies e.g. Education, Health and Care plans, KS3 & KS4 transition planning, and post 16 opportunities.
