Now Education are currently working with a large SEND school in Handsworth who cater for Primary and Secondary pupils with a primary diagnosis of Autism.

Students here could have a variety of different needs including; Autism Spectrum Disorder, Asperger Syndrome, Hearing Impairments, Visual Impairments, Challenging Behaviour, Social Emotional and Mental Health issues, Severe Learning Difficulties or profound and multiple learning difficulties.

Due to the needs of pupils here; we are specifically recruiting Male Teaching Assistants to support pupils that require personal care and toileting assistance.

The position is Monday to Friday 8:30 – 3:30pm, term time only with a key requirement of being willing, and able, to work effectively across all Key Stages including the Foundation Stage and Key Stages 1, 2 and 3. Staff are frequently moved to different classes and it is vital that candidates are able to work really well in all of them.

An ideal candidate would have experience in SEND schools, or have experience supporting students or young people with Autism in a similar setting such as care.

  • have a good knowledge of Autism and a willingness to learn more

  • be motivating and inspiring to pupils
  • be committed to raising standards in teaching and learning
  • be an excellent team player and role model and be able to work collaboratively
  • be flexible to the needs of the school with an “I can do attitude”
  • be willing to move classes on different days to meet the needs of the school
  • bring energy and positivity to the school
  • have a commitment to safeguarding students
